FADE IN

INT. NYC SUBWAY CAR, 1974

AM RUSH HOUR CROWD.

Hundreds crammed in like sardines.
Read their NY Posts oblivious to each other.

MOTORMAN’S COMPARTMENT

MOTORMAN (slovenly, late 40s)
Few sandwiches shy of a triple bypass.

Eyes glazed over as the tunnel lights whiz by until -

		     	MOTORMAN
		SON-OV-A...!

HAND SLAMS down on the brake - HARD!

EXT. TUNNEL

Iron Horse SCCCCREAMS to a halt.

INT. SUBWAY CAR

PASSENGERS fly about like rag dolls.
Curses - Screams - Coffee and newspapers fly.
A panicked game of TWISTER.

EXT. TUNNEL

Train at rest. MOTORMAN exits.
Huffs his way down the tracks.

Flashlight beam probes the murkiness.
A BODY. On the tracks. Lifeless.

Reaches the body. MTA uniform.
Legs and feet bound with duct tape.
Turns it over - not real. A MANNEQUIN.

Takes the NOTE pinned to its body.
Reads: "Kings of the Line!"

Notices empty spray can. Then another.

Sweeps his thin beam of light onto opposite wall.
Graffiti in a riot of pastels. Still wet.
Brazen letters say it all .... "THE CRAZY FIVE."

INT. DARKENED BEDROOM - NIGHT

			MOTORMAN (v.o.)
		Son ov a....

			ALARM CLOCK
		beep! beep! beep!

HAND SLAMS down on the clock - HARD!
